(re)construct
Contemplations on the ‘humanufactured’ – the melding of the machinery and the organic – where industrial tools exert the will of human intent.
These constructs call to mind how we shape and bend earthly resources to our visions. Using machines and tools as her proxies, the artist ‘sculpts’ by deciding where and how much to apply force and when to restrain it.
Throughout the process, she tries to preserve the mesmerising yet seemingly random flows and swirls of metal textures and patinas. All that may seem impervious may yet be contorted leading to the contradictory and the implausible.
