this ideogram is a composite of 門 mén (door) + 日 rì (sun, day).
門 mén signifies a transition, a passageway.
日 rì signifies the passing of time in a continuing cycle.
間 ‘ between time, between space ‘
offers a contemplative space, to pause, to be present – for the moment.
an opportunity to capture this moment for posterity.
in transcending spaces and activation of the sculpture, viewers can scan the QRcode, slot their phone into the niche and listen to the soundscapes projected through the artwork.

‘rewritten: the world ahead of us’
in response to the pandemic, the Public Art Trust commissioned a series of
14 ambitious and imaginative text-based public artworks, and sited them at National Parks along Singapore’s Coast-to-Coast trail.
the objectives:
to imagine Singapore’s position in a post-COVID world, where numerous opportunities and vulnerabilities abound.
to demonstrate how art can turn obstacles into inspiration and inspire others to follow suit.
to embrace our shared humanity and uplift the spirits of our people.
